"We cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening our own"
-Ben Sweetland

On journey in high school thus far, I have taken Literature, Algebra 1, Writer's Workshop/Composition, Computer Fundamentals, Physical Science, and Geography. I have enjoyed all of these courses, for they all provide me with a challenge, but I can definitely say that Literature is my favorite. This subject is not only my strongest point, but the one I enjoy the most. In my freshman Literature class, I have been able to write essays on many topics and read many award winning novels. The novel I enjoyed most was Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven. This book explained the importance of forgiveness in addition to, the reality that everyone on earth in connected in some way. Eddie, the main character, was an elderly man working at Ruby Pier, the local amusement park, when he is faced with a life taking challenge. On Eddie's journey through heaven, he meets five people who influenced his life the most. Some he was aware of and some he was not. I enjoyed The Five People You Meet in Heaven the most, because of the heart touching story and the lessons that are taught.
Through Literature, I am transported to another place and time through text. This subject probably does not have the same affect on all people as it does on me, but I definitely look forward to Literature each and every day.

I have attended Westwood Schools since I was four years old. I enjoy attending school here because of the strive for excellence and family-like atmosphere. At school, I am a Headmaster's and Honor Roll student and am an active member of high school Student Government. I plan to graduate from Westwood with honors and a high SAT score so that I can attend the college of my choice.
