"To Make the Best Better"
-Georgia 4-H Motto

In middle school, I became an active member of Georgia 4-Hand this is definitely a decision I do not regret. Through this organization, I have been able to achieve many things. I have attended District Project Achievement where I compete in Vocal Performance, I have been able to be a leader for students younger than myself, and I have also been able to attend exciting summer camps. I can fondly recall my first visit to District Project Achievement. I was nervous, but the butterflies quickly faded from my stomach when I realized what great experiences this club was going to offer me.  By having to create portfolios of work for District Project Achievement, I believe that 4-H has helped me become prepared for being an adult in the business place. Also, I have been in many situations with 4-H that have left me with no choice but to meet new people. This skill will aid me in stepping out of my comfort zone in order to reach a goal. I have made many life long friends, some who are more like family, thanks to this great organization and I am extremely thankful. I hope to someday become a member of the Senior District Board and eventually State Board with 4-H. 4-H is truly making the best better.

Georgia 4-H: The History

Georgia 4-H began as a group that emphasized the importance of agriculture in society. To encourage young people to become interested, Farmers Institutes communicated with school superintendents by providing production contests, soil tests, and plant identification. Eventually, clubs began to grow outside of schools and parents began taking jobs as extension agents and volunteer leaders. Farmers saw the public support and enthusiasm and 4-H began to grow across the nation. Today, 4-H has developed into a club that not only focuses on the importance of agriculture, but provides skills in a variety of areas focusing on the betterment of today's youth.
