"Its not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves"
-Edmund Hillary

Thus far in high school, I have had many opportunities to achieve great things. While my accomplishments in dance and pageantry are remarkable, my portfolio of work are the achievements  of which I am most proud.
My freshman year in high school, I was able to take part in a project that included teens, much like myself, from all over the world. Under the direction of my instructor, Mrs. Vicki, as well as instructors from across the universe, we students were able to create a Wiki Space on our assigned topics. My topic, Digital Literacy and Freedom/Customization, was a wonderful topic to have to "speak" freely on, because Literacy and Freedom/Customization are things that are very useful in today's society.
At the end of this project, we were assigned to write a blog post that reflected on the experiences we had participating in this project. I had nothing but positive things to include in my blog post. Each and every one of my team members contributed to the building of our page in addition to giving feedback on the edits.
I hope to collaborate with more kids just like myself in the future. I honestly felt as if I was walking away with friends, even though they life in other countries. I am very thankful to have an advance teacher, for I know that some students will never have the chance to do so.

Adventures in Hippo Open Sim: The OZ Project

Boxes in the Virtual World of 'Oz'
I had the rare opportunity to work in Hippo Open Sim with three of my classmates on a project that would help students preparing for college immensely. My group members and I had the idea to create a virtual world with steps to help senior high school students in their journey to college. The world was themed around the film, The Wizard of Oz, complete with a yellow brick road and boxes containing note cards on useful websites and tips to help students be successful. I truly hope this world aids high school seniors in preparing for college.
